Funding Methodology

Funding Rounds

Focus with Passion allocates funds to a number of different funding areas:

  • Musicians, composers
  • Dancers, actors
  • Artists, painters, sculptors
  • Film and video producers
  • Digital design and multi media producers

A nominated sum is allocated to each Funding Round. Once those funds have been committed, that Round closes. Ensure your grant application is lodged either before the cut-off date, or before the funds allocated to that particular Round are fully committed.

Grants of between $3,000 and $7,000 are available to applicants who meet our funding criteria. The funding Focus with Passion provides is to be spent on items, equipment, or materials that will support the development of your work. These funds may also be spent on courses, classes, specialist training and other activities that will broaden and enhance your artist expressive abilities.

Though your application may meet our grant allocation criteria, the Funding Round may have been oversubscribed, which means you miss out on that particular Funding Round.

Please know you can reapply when the next Round opens, so your revised application will reassessed.

Grant assessment criteria

There are three key criteria that influence the grant assessment process the most.

Invest serious time and energy into developing a clear, concise message, as it relates to these three points.

1. Objective

Your Objective needs to be clear so we can provide you with the specific support you seek.

Explain clearly what your Objective entails and how you want to reach it. This may include recording a video. Map out the steps; write a vision statement; create an interactive piece; describe a process; create a mock-up model.

2. Outcome

Understanding your Outcome will ensure we provide you with the best support for this stage of your creative journey.

Explain what your Outcome will look like, feel like and what form it will take.

How will you determine when you are on-track /off-track, and when your Outcome is reached?

Upon grant approval, your Mentor will work with you to define each stage of this process. These stages will form the funding release milestones, determining when each portion of your grant funding is paid.

3. Acquittal

Focus with Passion has reporting obligations. Being a not-for-profit charity (providing grants to the cultural development sector), we are required to report where our grant money is spent, who it is given to and how our recipients have used these grants.

When your project finishes, you will be required to prepare an Acquittal Report detailing what you achieved and how you spent the grant funds. Your mentor will help you prepare this report.
